In And Around The Surrey Hills

A QUEST TO FIND THE REMARKABLE IN THE UNREMARKABLE

Sometimes it can be very easy to take your home landscape for granted and feel that, when compared to other ‘epic’ locations, the area in which you live is perhaps ‘unremarkable’. This feeling of discontent spurred a decision to undertake a project to further explore the extraordinary landscape around me. I set myself an ongoing project to find and photograph ‘the epic’ and to look for the ‘remarkable’, in and around The Surrey Hills National Landscape.

144 pages packed with atmospheric photos of landscapes, woodlands, fungi, insects, and flowers, many of which are featured in my Shop and Gallery. I include anecdotes about the inspiration behind some of my favourite images and share interesting history about the locations visited.

A beautiful scenic view of the Surrey Hills National Landscape looking towards Box Hill. Taken from spot on the North Downs Way known as 'Heavens Seat'.

“The remarkable is there, it’s just a different kind of remarkable. There is great beauty here in Surrey, but it is a different kind of beauty.”
