These silver birches are among my favourite trees, ones I return to often, especially in autumn. They stand on the hillside above Chipstead Valley at the edge of Banstead Wood. On this misty morning, soft sunlight lit the autumn golds against a blue-grey mist, and the scene reminded me of an Impressionist painting.
